Altered Canvas - "Want to Fly"

Hello dear sweet ladies

Happy Monday and hope you had a fabulous weekend!!  The weather was so gorgeous here with a little chill in the air.  It was a nice break from the heat wave.

A friend of mind wanted an altered canvas for her desk at work. She loves butterflies almost as much as I do. One of her favorite cardstocks is from the Winchester Collection from the Angel Company and I used it to cover the front of both canvas pieces (before attaching them together). I inked the edges of each canvas to tone down the white edge with Versa Magic in "Eggplant."  I cut some cardstock into 3.75" x 3.75"and attached them to the insides of the canvas and then attached the canvas pieces together with the hinges. I cut two 3.5" x 3.5" squares and stamped the images in Versa Magic "Spanish Olive".

I created the bottom border on the canvas with the quote on it by using the edges only of the same set used on the opposite canvas. I used Wonder Tape to attach the ribbon and cardstock to the canvas. I stamped the butterfly from the "Want to Fly" stamp set in Spanish Olive, attached it to the canvas and added ribbon to continue the line across the entire canvas.

For the front I punched scallop circles using the Mega Scalloped Punch and Giga Scalloped Circle Punch . I stamped "Just Because"  in Versa Magic Eggplant), added a large eyelet, ribbon and attached to the front canvas. I added bling to the flower centers and I was done. All supplies are from The Angel Company and unfortunately they went out of business about a year ago.

It was so much fun making this altered canvas I think I may make a couple more in similar themes as gifts for a few more friends.

Now this is irony update:

A little while ago I discovered Red Rubber Designs and I am so excited about this.  I was an independent consultant with The Angel Company for several years until they went out of business.  Red Rubber Designs is now carrying The Angel Company rubber stamps and there are so many wonderful images and beautiful cardstocks to create anything and everything your heart can imagine.  I hope you will check them out as well as their blog.

Fight Like A Girl - Pink Power

My blog candy giveaway is under post Challenge #35  Hello dear sweet friends -  I am taking a little detour today from my usual type of post to share something that is near and dear to my heart.  As you are already aware October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Well I want to do something to help spread the word about the importance of mammograms.  Believe it or not there are still a lot of women (and men) that we can reach together.   I am a breast cancer survivor and today September 18th  is my six year anniversary.   Six years ago I was driving to work listening to my favorite Christian radio station when there was an advertisement for the "Susan G. Komen 3 day/60 mile breast cancer awareness walk.  At that moment in my heart I knew without a doubt I needed to walk those 60 miles.  Now in all honesty - at the same time I was asking myself questions like - Why on earth do I feel so compelled to walk those 60 miles fo...
