Tutorial - Birdhouse chipboard magnet
Here are the products I used. Rather than make a birdhouse from scratch I decided to use one of my chipboard house shapes (from an unfinished chipboard album) and just cut off the chimney.
I covered the front of chipboard with cardstock. For these types of projects I like to use my glue stick and a brayer which really helps with the bonding.
I added more cardstock to bottom half of the birdhouse.
I cut about a 1/2" wide strip of cardstock for the bottom are of the roof.
I used a 2" chipboard flower and removed the center circle. Painted it white and then used sparkly embossing powder to add some bling. Attached the bird picture behind the flower chipboard and attached to front of birdhouse.
If you create one of these magnets and share it on your blog send me the link. I would love to see what you create. And, as a bonus - I will mail you a one of my handmade keychains.
(A few samples are shown at http://www.etsy.com/shop/Hugs4theHeart?section_id=11125282). The keychain I send to you will be a special edition only.
Thanks so much for spending time with me today. I welcome your feedback and comments. Have a blessed day!!
Great tutorial and love your frame too. Off to the next one on the blog hop now x
ReplyDeletePretty birdhouse creations. I'll give this a try. I just put birdseed in the bird feeder outside & fresh water in the birdbath. Here in Central TX we get Chipping Sparrows, BlueJays, Doves & Cardinals.

Great job Laine!! I have used chipboard before, but not like this more for xmas ornaments! very simple stuff, nothing like your project!! I need to try my hand at this!! thanks for sharing!! i never thought of using a glue stick and a brayer! great idea!
ReplyDeleteHi Laine
ReplyDeleteLoving your blog hop! I have never used a chipboard but after seeing your brilliant creation and the tutorial I am definitely going to try out your idea when I get a chance because it will make such a fantastic present. I have tried a shrink plastic in the past and glued a magnet on the back of it. Love the idea making one from the chipboard too because of its sturdiness and other qualities.
