Tutorial - Birdhouse chipboard magnet

Here are the products I used.  Rather than make a birdhouse from scratch I decided to use one of my chipboard house shapes (from an unfinished chipboard album) and just cut off the chimney.

I covered the front of chipboard with cardstock.  For these types of projects I like to use my glue stick and a brayer which really helps with the bonding.

I added more cardstock to bottom half of the birdhouse.

I cut about a 1/2" wide strip of cardstock for the bottom are of the roof.

I used a 2" chipboard flower and removed the center circle.  Painted it white and then used sparkly embossing powder to add some bling.  Attached the bird picture behind the flower chipboard and attached to front of birdhouse.

For the finishing touches on this one I added small pink metal flowers all around the chipboard flower.  I also used cardstock and covered the back of this birdhouse and attached the magnet with glossy accents.

If you create one of these magnets and share it on your blog send me the link.  I would love to see what you create.  And, as a bonus - I will mail you a one of my handmade keychains.

(A few samples are shown at http://www.etsy.com/shop/Hugs4theHeart?section_id=11125282).  The keychain I send to you will be a special edition only.

Thanks so much for spending time with me today.  I welcome your feedback and comments. Have a blessed day!!

  9. Hi Laine
Loving your blog hop! I have never used a chipboard but after seeing your brilliant creation and the tutorial I am definitely going to try out your idea when I get a chance because it will make such a fantastic present. I have tried a shrink plastic in the past and glued a magnet on the back of it. Love the idea making one from the chipboard too because of its sturdiness and other qualities.

Pretty in Pink

Happy Happy Saturday My Dear Sweet Friends I've got my Fitztown DT hat on today and I am sharing an altered small composition I made using one of the gorgeous rose images from Fitztown . Here's how I make my altered composition books whether they are the large or small ones. I used a small file and lightly sanded the front & back of the book until all the shine is gone.  I added the cardstock to the front and back using glue. I used my bone folder to make sure the cardstock was adhered well. I used Copics to color the roses. Fussy cut out the roses and attached to the front of the composition book with glue. Used my bone folder to make sure the image was adhered well. Added a strand of faux pearls to the left side. This really is a quick and easy project.  I actually like to make several ahead of time to either give as RAK's or gifts to family, friends or co-workers. Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate your feedback and comments....
