Peony Bouquet

Update:  June 2 - I just found out I won an honorable mention from Mitzi Sato-Wiuff owner of Stamps by Aurora Wings.  Thanks so much Mitzi.

Happy Monday My Sweet Friends

It's Memorial Day here in the U.S. and a day of reflection in honor of those brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe.  They are true heroes.

Peonies are one of my most favorite flowers.  I used a digital image from very talented artist Mitzi Sato-Wiuff.  I colored it with Copics and am pretty happy with the results.  I did color the inside of the flower with a goldish yellow however you can't see that in this photo.  I decided it was time to jump into the deep end and just have fun.  It was a liberating experience and I am so eager to keep learning and grow stronger in my artistic skills.

I used the following Copic colors:

G05, 07, 09
RV21, 23, 25, 29
Y32, 35, 38

You can find this gorgeous image and so many other's at Mitzi's Etsy Shop and here are the links:

I really appreciate your taking the time to stop by and saying hello.  Your comments and feedback mean the world to me.

  1. Beautiful coloring on the Peony image, Laine! I love how you put the peonies against the pink and black stripes for a bold and unforgettable look. It's also nice to see a mention of the Memorial Day for what it really means. I see people treat this day like the 'first opportunity to get out of town' and nothing else all too often. Thank you for joining our challenge at Aurora Wings! Mitzi xx

Pretty in Pink

Happy Happy Saturday My Dear Sweet Friends I've got my Fitztown DT hat on today and I am sharing an altered small composition I made using one of the gorgeous rose images from Fitztown . Here's how I make my altered composition books whether they are the large or small ones. I used a small file and lightly sanded the front & back of the book until all the shine is gone.  I added the cardstock to the front and back using glue. I used my bone folder to make sure the cardstock was adhered well. I used Copics to color the roses. Fussy cut out the roses and attached to the front of the composition book with glue. Used my bone folder to make sure the image was adhered well. Added a strand of faux pearls to the left side. This really is a quick and easy project.  I actually like to make several ahead of time to either give as RAK's or gifts to family, friends or co-workers. Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate your feedback and comments....
