It's all about Bright Colors and the Mixed Media World

Hello Sweet Friends

It's finally a little sunny here and it's helping warm my old cold bones.  I sure hope you are warm and cozy where you at as well.

Today is all about the new challenge at Mixed Media World and I am so excited about this challenge.  The theme for this month is "Bright Colors."

If you entered our March challenge all the winners have been announced and posted on the Mixed Media World Challenge Blog.  Huge Congratulations to all the winners.

Our sponsor for this month's challenge The Old Design Shop on Etsy and I must say Julie has some beautiful vintage images.  The winner of our April Challenge will be able to pick three images from Julie's shop.

My sweet friends I have a confession to make - I have always always (did I say always) been fascinated by Mixed Media.  I have admired the phenomenal talent of so many women (and yes, men) that have blazed the trails before me.  And oh my, it is intimidating  - extremely intimidating.  I have also been blessed to be a part of this amazing Design Team of some incredibly talented women.  And since I now feel like I am swimming in the deep end of the swimming pool (or the Pacific Ocean) I couldn't be happier.  I have so much to learn and I am soaking it all up as fast as I can.  Why do I share this?  If you have ever dreamed about learning more about Mixed Media - I hope you will jump in and join us - there really isn't a better place to at least dip your feet into this incredible art world.  We would love to see what you have created!!  All the rules are on the right side of the Mixed Media World Challenge Blog.

Well it's going to be a little challenging to share everything I did to create the cover of this composition book.  I have also started on the back cover however I will have to share that one at a later date (I still have stuff to add to it).

I used a little bit of newspaper crinkled up, stencils, different acrylic paints, white gesso, molding paste, dylusions ink sprays, buttons, doily, chipboard flourish, pendant, rubber stamps, and other things I can't remember.  Still a
learning process for me (heehee!!)

And I really hope you will check out the amazing projects my sweet teamies have made.  They are WOW!!!!  The link is below.

Pretty in Pink

Happy Happy Saturday My Dear Sweet Friends I've got my Fitztown DT hat on today and I am sharing an altered small composition I made using one of the gorgeous rose images from Fitztown . Here's how I make my altered composition books whether they are the large or small ones. I used a small file and lightly sanded the front & back of the book until all the shine is gone.  I added the cardstock to the front and back using glue. I used my bone folder to make sure the cardstock was adhered well. I used Copics to color the roses. Fussy cut out the roses and attached to the front of the composition book with glue. Used my bone folder to make sure the image was adhered well. Added a strand of faux pearls to the left side. This really is a quick and easy project.  I actually like to make several ahead of time to either give as RAK's or gifts to family, friends or co-workers. Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate your feedback and comments....
