"Go Green" and a DRAGON

Happy Saturday My Dear Sweet Friends

I have been spoiled the last several days with glorious sunny weather.  And right now its a little gloomy and probably some rain on the way.  How about you?  How has your weather been treating you??

Today I am sharing a DT project with Fitztown for the current challenge.  I am loving posting a new Saturday project every other week.  And this is my newest one.

This is an altered trinket box I created using Fae #22 and this was an amazing digital image to work with.  My Copics were screaming at me to get busy creating.  And creating this altered box really was a lot of fun.

To create this project I:

  • Sanded the box.
  • Painted all of it - inside and out.
  • Added cardstock around the entire box (except lid sides).
  • Used Mod Podge to seal it.
  • Added a border of cardstock to the top of lid.
  • Colored image with Copics.
  • Cut out Image.
  • Added Image to top of Box.
  • Sealed with Mod Podge.
  • Added another coat of Mod Podge to entire box.
  • Added lace around side of the top lid.
  • Added cardstock to inside of box.
  • Sealed it all with two coats of Mod Podge.

And that's all there is to it.  It's an easy project but does take a little time for all the drying time of paint as well as Mod Podge.

Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you will join in our challenge and looking forward to seeing your creations.

With smiles

  3. WOW, what a magnificent dragon, Laine! I'll have to go check that one out for my granddaughter who loves all things 'dragon.' Fantastic coloring and I love the box. FYI, if you'll ship some of that rain south to where you used to live, I'll report that we're slated to have record high temps of 90 this weekend. Yuck! I'll take your rain. :-D

    1. Oh my goodness NC I do not envy you the 90 degree temperature. I would be melting - I just can't handle the CA heat any more. Sucks the life right out of me. I would send you rain if I could - I know CA really needs it. We sure having had our usual amount of rain this year but at least we are getting some. And I will let you in on a little secret - I really enjoy the rain too. It's funny about sunshine in WA state - everybody goes nuts and looks for things to do outside and soak it up while they can.

Thanks for the sweet comments too NC - it really makes my day.

Lots of hugs, smiles and sending some rain your way.

  4. Oh my this is just gorgeous, I love the colors and the idea of a box that way you can see it all the time. That's a lot of fussy cutting but oh so worth it. I have been debating on this image.. now I just might get it next time.

    1. Hi Billie - thanks so much for the wonderfully sweet comment. I do appreciate it. Yes, there was some fussy cutting going on but its something I always enjoy doing. This is a fabulous image to play around with - I hope you do give it some more thought and consider getting it. I don't think you will regret it.

Pretty in Pink

Happy Happy Saturday My Dear Sweet Friends I've got my Fitztown DT hat on today and I am sharing an altered small composition I made using one of the gorgeous rose images from Fitztown . Here's how I make my altered composition books whether they are the large or small ones. I used a small file and lightly sanded the front & back of the book until all the shine is gone.  I added the cardstock to the front and back using glue. I used my bone folder to make sure the cardstock was adhered well. I used Copics to color the roses. Fussy cut out the roses and attached to the front of the composition book with glue. Used my bone folder to make sure the image was adhered well. Added a strand of faux pearls to the left side. This really is a quick and easy project.  I actually like to make several ahead of time to either give as RAK's or gifts to family, friends or co-workers. Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate your feedback and comments....
