Happy happy Tuesday my dear sweet friends - I sure hope you are doing splendid today and staying warm (cool) depending on which part of the country you live in. It's chilly here and I am seriously considering wrapping up in a blanket and having a hot cup of tea to get me moving around a little better.
This album was really fun to make. It took a lot of time and thought because I had to use every piece of paper I had even if it was only a 1" x 1" piece. I also wanted to make sure there was room for lots of tags, side pockets and folders within some of the pages. I love the album and even though it could be considered done - I still want to add more embellishments but will do so at a later date. Most of the papers and products I used are from 7 Gypsies and from a dear friend of mine in California. I used a lot of chipboard to make all the pages and (big gulp) I disassembled one of my favorite books because I wanted to use the cover of the book for this album. I have never done this to a book before and it was actually quite difficult. I am an avid reader and my books are like my own little kids - but I did it. I have however kept the actual pages of the book and can still read it.
The reason I wanted to do this particular project was because it's been quite a roller coaster these last 3-4 years with the loss of my job, the financial strain and health issues. I came across this book "The Blessings of Brokenness" by Charles Stanley and love it. In fact I couldn't put it down and read it from cover to cover with tears in my eyes. The pages are also covered with yellow highlighter and lots of notes. I wanted to use this book to create my own book of favorite scriptures and quotes which have helped me so much get through each day. I can honestly say I wouldn't have asked for any of it to happen but I wouldn't change anything because God has truly changed my brokenness into blessings. I have quite a few tags done but haven't taken photos of them yet.
I am hoping these photos will be pretty self explanatory but if you have any questions please let me know. What's really funny is I started with a whole different color theme but wasn't happy with it - it wasn't what I had in mind. And so, I started all over and this is the final result. It was definitely a stretch and I really was flying by the seat of my pants. Do you have a favorite quote or scripture that has helped you?? I would love to know which one. I still plan on adding to this project - its going to be a "work in progress" for quite a while.
Hugs and smiles

oh my I really hope that you are better!!! This is totally stunning. What did you do with the inside of the book? I'm very intrigued. Love the idea of using the cover that way.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky - so sweet to hear from you!! I still have the inside of the book - it's actually one of my most favorite books and plan on keeping it. The book itself is still in one piece - I just took the cover off.
