PINK POWER - Altered Bird

Happy Happy Monday my dearest friends - I hope your day (and coming week) is full of sunshine and lots of smiles!!

For this week (probably the rest of the month) I am going to post projects that are all about PINK.  It is my favorite color and Breast Cancer Awareness month too.

For today's project I once again stepped out of my comfort zone.  I have had these bird shaped chipboard pieces for quite some time and have wanted to create something different with them.  The bird is approximately 5" x 7".

I covered the bird in pattern cardstock.  Inked around the edges for the distressed shabby kind of look.  Added some vintage buttons, a chipboard heart, paper flower and stamped the message on a chipboard flower.  Of course no project is complete without the bling.  I am thinking I might add some bling around the chipboard flower but haven't decided for sure yet.  The best part is I used supplies I have

By the way I found these chipboard bird shapes at Michael's for a $1.00 for 8 of them.  Unfortunately that was about a year ago so I am not sure if they have any more.  I had so much fun creating this altered bird and I can't wait to what other ideas I can come up with.  Plus you know how I love to recycle and reuse products whenever possible.  I recycled/rescured the heart shape from an old old old card I had made (one of my first) and forgot all about my chipboard shape flowers.  It was fun hunting through some of the oldies but goodies.

Thanks for saying hello and just to let you know I have some blog candy to give away a little later this week.  So check back and join in.  You could be the winner!!

I am also submitting this project into the following challenges:

Fight Like A Girl - Pink Power

My blog candy giveaway is under post Challenge #35  Hello dear sweet friends -  I am taking a little detour today from my usual type of post to share something that is near and dear to my heart.  As you are already aware October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Well I want to do something to help spread the word about the importance of mammograms.  Believe it or not there are still a lot of women (and men) that we can reach together.   I am a breast cancer survivor and today September 18th  is my six year anniversary.   Six years ago I was driving to work listening to my favorite Christian radio station when there was an advertisement for the "Susan G. Komen 3 day/60 mile breast cancer awareness walk.  At that moment in my heart I knew without a doubt I needed to walk those 60 miles.  Now in all honesty - at the same time I was asking myself questions like - Why on earth do I feel so compelled to walk those 60 miles fo...
