Some Altered Recycled Fun

Hello My Dear Sweet Friends - I hope you are doing well and finding a little time to spend in your craft room.  I have actually managed to find a little time too.  As I was cleaning out some drawers I came across some large laminate samples.  They measure approximately 3.25" x 4.5".  Once again I didn't want to toss anything out and decided to make some larger magnets and see how they turned out.   In the past I have gone to some estate sales and garage sales and found a lot of cute things.  These were used making old greeting cards that were pretty messed up.  Once again I don't like to throw anything away and really like to find ways to use it myself or give as gifts to family and friends.   You can see from the photos the embellishments I added flowers, lace, and some pretty pink shiny flowers.   What do you think?   Thanks again for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day. Keychains

Hello my Dear Sweet Friends I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It's been a busy one around here and slowly calming down. For this post I am sharing some keychains I've been working on the past couple of days. Actually it's been Mark and I working on them. It has been fun even though I've been so tired I can't keep my eyes open.  The keychain I am going to share is quite simple but out of my comfort zone. This isn't my usual style but I actually really like this one - skulls and all. I am having problems in getting my photos to upload. I will work on it again first thing in the morning. With hugs and smiles Laine Update:  I finally figured out how to upload my photos from Windows 8.  I am not a big fan.  LOL!! Anyway - I am going to share two photos of the keychains we finished yesterday.  Thanks for visiting!! Hugs and smiles Laine

Moxie Moxie Moxie

Hello my Dear Sweet Friends Today I am introducing a little angel (most of the time) named Moxie who is my new fur baby.  She was a gift from my special man and she is a true delight.  I just love Pomeranians and it took 3 days to come up with her name and boy does she live up to Moxie.  I have had her about a month and she is so much fun with a lot of attitude.  So, I thought it would be fun to introduce you to my fur baby and include a video that shows her in action.  I hope the video makes you smile!! I hope you enjoyed the video as much as I did trying to capture the moment on video.  The story is that  Lacee does not share her food with anyone and that includes sweet adorable Moxie.  As you can see Moxie let Lacee know how she was feeling about the situation.  I will be back tomorrow with a new project to share with you. With smiles Laine and Moxie

My First Felt Needle Book - My New Addiction

Hello my dear sweet friends - Happy Thursday - and sure hope you are doing well.   I am super excited to share my first felt needle book with you and my newest addiction.  These are so fun and easy to make.  This one is my own creation as far as how I put this one together.   The cover is actually made of flannel with the inside pages being felt. I have had this floral flannel for some time now and was saving it for something special.  And, for me that turned out to be this needle book.   The book measures 4" x 4" when closed and 8" x 8" when open.  I decided not to add a closure button because I didn't want to cover up the flowers.  The rest of the pages in this book are similar to the one shown in the second photo.  The only difference is I just added different styles of lace to each page. I am using this one to help me keep better track of my altered stick pins. Have you made a felt needle book yet?  Have you even considered...

Valentine Altered Spoolie

Hello dear sweet friends - It's a rainy Sunday here in Vancouver, WA and I just want to crawl under the covers and snuggle with Max for a while and enjoy the peace and quiet.  What about you - how are things at home?   As I mentioned in my post yesterday I have a fun project to share with you today and its actually the first one I have made.  I have admired all the gorgeous altered spools on Pinterest and have been wanting to jump into the deep end and make one for quite some time now.  I have joined a swap group called "Altered Paper Swaps" and one of the swaps was an altered spoolie.  So into the deep end I jumped and it was so much fun - a little challenging to get started but once I did things just took on a life of their own.  This particular swap had a Valentine's Day theme which was extra fun because I was able to use some pink in my creation. So here it is - my first altered spoolie.  As you can see there is a lot of pink but what I ...

It's all about MAX

Hello my dear sweet friends -  Where has time gone?  It's like I have just turned around and lost four months of my life.  I guess in some ways its kind of true. Silly me!! I am happy to be back and have lots of new things to share as well as getting caught up on what's been going on with you on your blogs and in your lives. I have some new projects I will be sharing too!!! I have decided that my first post will be on the more personal side of things and share the newest addition to my family.  Some of you may remember I lost my dear Hercules in August of last year and it was quite heartbreaking. Hercules was such a special part of my life for over 13 years and his passing left quite a huge hole in my heart.  Well like they say - time heals and there is some truth to that statement I guess.  I still miss Hercules everyday and wasn't sure if I would ever get another dog or not.   Well seven months later I have had a new little furry guy show u...

Cinderella goes Camo

Hello my dear sweet friends - I hope this finds you doing well.  It's been a while since I have been able to post and yet I have been able to get quite a few loose ends tied up.  I ended up making a quick trip to California to get the rest of personal stuff out of storage.  I am no longer scattered across three states and I can't even begin to express how wonderful that feels.  It will take me some time to get all my craft stuff set up and organized again but it looks like I will be able to really get on the ground running again.  It was a group effort and my sisters and brother in law were amazing and so incredibly helpful.   A few days before the trip I received a phone call (out of the blue) from a dear friend I worked with at the Police Department in California 20 years ago.  It was great hearing from him and we have been having fun getting caught up on things. My my, so many new and exciting changes.  I am still working on getting my heal...

More Exciting News

Hello my dear sweet friends - Talk about an exciting day!!  Actually evening is more accurate but let me back up for a minute.  I have had one deep dream since I was a little girl - and that is be a writer.  I don't want to write novels but I want to write from the heart - personal experience articles in the hopes it will help someone who is going through something I myself have experienced might find comfort, encouragement, reach out for help or make a difference in someones life.  I have had a letter to the editor published but that's about it until tonight. I wrote an article called "You Have Breast Cancer" and it has been published on the Yahoo Voice Website and I am beyond excited and nervous since I am finally stepping out of my comfort zone and putting myself out there and letting it all hang out for the world to see.  I am ready and I am probably going to be awake all night with my mind going amuck amuck amuck!!   I wrote this article because Oc...

Butterfly Magnet

Happy Saturday Dear Sweet Friends Can you believe it??  Two posts in a row - kind of surprises me and also reminds me of days gone by when it was more common than uncommon.  Hopefully its a good sign.  How's your weekend going?? Have you been able to spend any time being creative today??  I decided to work on some small projects for a little more instant gratification.  I know I have mentioned it several times but I really enjoy making keychains and magnets and so I decided to try and go into a different direction.  So I decided to share the first one I made today and will add more as I get them done.  Let me know what you think??  Anything else I can add to jazz it up a little more - you know me I always like the vintage or shabby chic style. Thanks for stopping by - it always makes my day. Hugs and smiles Laine I am submitting this to the following challenges:

Altered Paper Bag Greeting Card and Gift Card Holder

Happy Happy Friday my Dear Sweet Friends - I don't know about you but I am really looking forward to the weekend.  It's been really chilly here and I think its time to park in front of the craft table and get busy.  I have all kinds of ideas screaming for attention especially with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner.  What about you??  Have you already started making your Christmas cards?  Plan on making anything to give as gifts this year?? I would love to hear some of your plans and I can keep a secret. This recent project was a lot of fun.  I had an image in my head of what I wanted it to look like however by time I was done everything had changed.  I was originally going to just make a greeting card out of a brown paper sack.  As you can see it turned into a booklet of sorts with extra tags and a side pocket to hold a gift card.  I inked the edges, added some little pearls, stickles in the center of the flower on ...

Finished Altered Book

Happy happy Tuesday my dear sweet friends - I sure hope you are doing splendid today and staying warm (cool) depending on which part of the country you live in.  It's chilly here and I am seriously considering wrapping up in a blanket and having a hot cup of tea to get me moving around a little better. This album was really fun to make.  It took a lot of time and thought because I had to use every piece of paper I had even if it was only a 1" x 1" piece.  I also wanted to make sure there was room for lots of tags, side pockets and folders within some of the pages.  I love the album and even though it could be considered done - I still want to add more embellishments but will do so at a later date.  Most of the papers and products I used are from 7 Gypsies and from a dear friend of mine in California.  I used a lot of chipboard to make all the pages and (big gulp) I disassembled one of my favorite books because I wanted to use the cover of the book for thi...

The middle of a new project update.......

Quick update:  9/20/2013 - A very dear friend of my daughter passed away suddenly a few days ago.  I am now helping my daughter with a craft memorial project we need to have done in time for the funeral tomorrow.  I don't know that I will be able to post my project until over the weekend or Monday.   Thanks for understanding!!! Hugs always Laine *************************************************************************************** Hello dear sweet friends - its almost Friday!!  I don't know about you but I am certainly ready for the weekend.  I have been working on my secret project and have another photo to share today and the final project tomorrow.  It's been quite the process - I started out one way and things changed into a whole new direction several hours later.  I am much happier with the updated version and have a feeling this will be a project that will probably continue to grow over time. Have a blessed day and see you tomorro...

Beginning of a new project.....

Hello my dear sweet friends - Happy Tuesday!!  I hope you are all doing well.  It been busy busy here with my youngest grandson ready for the 10th grade.  And a lot of fun too!!  Boy, my daughter is amazing at how much she can accomplish in one day with work, school and the boys.  I was also blessed to be able to spend time with my youngest daughter too!!  It was relaxing, entertaining and at times even emotional (in a good way).  I sure feel blessed!! Well I am going to post just a little bit today along with a few pictures just to give you a slight peek at what I am currently working on.  It's something I have never done before - and I am super excited and a little nervous since I am truly flying by the seat of my pants on this one. Can you tell from the photos what I might be working on???  I will show another quick peek tomorrow and the final project on Friday.  I hope you will let me know your thoughts... With hugs and smiles ...

I LOVE PARIS, the EIFFEL TOWER and PINK.....

Happy Tuesday Sweet Friends - I hope you are doing well and smiling today. I know I am because I have been busy making lots of different things and most of them have to do with Paris, the Eiffel Tower, the color pink, and/or lots of bling.  Happy happy and lots of smiles when I am in that environment (sounds silly but also true). I am actually going to list a lot of these items on Etsy and get ready for the holiday season.  Have you started making any of your Christmas cards or gifts yet? I have a couple more items to list and then I will be visiting some of your blogs to see what you are up to as well. I am also working on a new give away in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness next month.  Hope you will join in. Hugs and smiles always, Laine

Two New Projects -

Hello sweet friends - I hope you had a great weekend!!  Mine was quiet - almost to quiet actually.  I did manage to get two little projects done I thought I would share with you.  You know me - I love just about anything and every Paris or the Eiffel Tower.  It's been kind of hard to focus this week so I decided to kind of push myself a little by making something small. I also found a great blog with amazing creations along with a birthday giveaway - hope you will check out her blog.  She is very talented, her work is gorgeous and her coloring is off the charts. Tribute to Hercules

Hello my dear sweet friends - Hope you are all doing well.   I am amazed I am finally back on blog land.  I have tried so many times to make a new post but couldn't find the buttons I needed through the G+ arrangement.  So frustrating and finally decided to ask for help from my friends - and once I did - I find what I need hidden in the mix of other buttons.  I just hope I can find it again and wish I knew why I had been struggling.  I am usually good at figuring this stuff out but then had to put it aside again due to family stuff (see below). Anyway - problem solved (hopefully). I first wanted to make a post about my best furry friends Hercules.  He has been by my side almost non-stop for 13.5 years and sadly he passed away on Sunday. I miss him so much!!  I knew I would lose him one day however my prayer has always been for me to be with him when its his time to go to doggie heaven.  I feel so blessed my prayer was answered even though i...

Altered Fabric Journal (Chipboard)

Happy Monday my Dear Sweet Friends - I hope you had a fabulous weekend!!  It was a quiet one for me and I was able to get some rest and finish working on this new project (which I actually started a while ago but wasn't able to complete).    I absolutely love the sentiment and find it is so true in my own life for over 20 years now.  Which makes this soon to be journal extra special to me.  There are no inside pages yet but I wanted to share the journal itself and get my feet wet by entering a couple of challenges this week.   I made the journal from scratch using heavy chipboard and covered it with actual fabric with adhesive on the back.  I believe its from DCWV.  It was a little tricky to work with and yet great I didn't have to use any other adhesive.  As you can tell I used lots of bling, pearls, lace, charms and inked the edges to give it the total shabby chic look.  The journal measures 5" x 7".   If you ...
